Exhibition opening: The Artisans of al-Darb al-Ahmar
I am excited to announce that an exhibition of my photographs will open on 22 March at the Royal Geographical Society, London. The exhibiton celebrates the people, culture and activity that takes place in al-Darb al-Ahmar, a historic district of Cairo that is home to 1,000 artisan workshops.
Boat builders of Zanzibar
About four kilometres outside of Stone Town, Zanzibar, near the ruins of the 19th century Arab Sultan Barghash’s palace lies Maruhubi fishing village. Quiet during the afternoons, the village comes alive in the evenings when fishermen set out for 12 hour shifts at sea returning exhausted at around 6 o’clock in the morning.
