The gift of photography

I was so happy this morning to receive a WhatsApp from my friend and colleague Aisuluu Kozhomkulova with some heart-warming news.

She sent me some photos of a Kyrgyz farmer called Karimkol being presented with a photo I took of him last year that recently featured in National Geographic Traveller UK.

He was so happy to receive this unexpected gift and proud to be featured in the magazine.

It was such a beautiful idea of my colleagues in Kyrgyzstan... Thank you Aisuluu and Eldiiar Baitik-Baatyr Uulu.

It's wonderful to play a small part in making connections between distant cultures and to see how happy this made Karimkol.
